Go Green! Recycling Bins Available

Welcome to the Town of Chester Official Web Site!

Located in the Berkshire foothills, Chester is a small rural community, known as the “Gem of the Valley” with a proud history of serving as home to the granite and emery industries.  Although these industries no longer exist, the Town is looking to the future through the recent completion of a year long planning process culminating in a Community Development Plan.  The Plan’s vision includes the goal of preserving our rural community character and scenic beauty while striving to balance residential growth and economic development with service and infrastructure needs.

Attractions include the Chester Theatre Company, providing excellent summer theater in July and August; and several venues for picking blueberries and apples. Recreational opportunities include Sanderson Brook Falls and Chester/Blandford State Forest.  The town has a rich history and under the guidance of the Chester Historical Society, with the support of the Chester Foundation has been successful in preserving several historic properties.

This web site is intended to inform residents of municipal activities, events and meetings and to make services more accessible.  The site will be updated regularly so please visit us frequently and let us know how we can improve.
